Jason Beelitz, HEM
Jason has almost 15 years of experience in fields of emergency management and occupational safety and health management. Since 2002 he has been in charge of security and emergency management for a 265 bed acute care facility along the New Jersey Shore. His experience includes participation in the multi-state TOPOFF 3 exercise conducted by the federal government to test emergency response capabilities to large scale terrorism attacks in multiple regions and many jurisdictions.
Additionally, Jason has been a key player in mass casualty exercises conducted in concert with county and municipal offices of emergency management. He has designed and conducted Smallpox preparedness plans and exercises to test to test the identification and proper management of patients displaying high-risk symptomology.
In his security role, Jason’s protection system created for the Emergency Department was identified as a state “best practice” during a NJ DHSS security audit. He has also developed and implemented an infant protection policy, including maintenance and testing of the infant protection systems, completion of infant abduction drills, and a reduction of false infant abduction alarms by 95%.
Prior to employment as a hospital employee, Mr. Beelitz worked with a firm in New Jersey that specialized in JCAHO compliance consulting. His area of practice included JCAHO programs such as Corporate and Facility-Specific Security Management Programs/Plans, Security Risk Assessments, Infant Protection Vulnerability Assessments and Abduction Drills, Life Safety Management Programs/Plans, Emergency Preparedness Management Programs/Plans, Emergency Preparedness Drills and Tabletop Exercises, and JCAHO/NFPA Life Safety Education and Training.
